Radiation therapy patient referral patterns from AMC physicians had been firmly
established at other hospitals. Patients referred to competitors were often lost
to AMC for follow-up surgeries and other services. King’s consultants met with the
referring physicians' practices and identified any obstacles to referring radiation
patients to the new service. King’s also identified the radiation therapy personnel
characteristics that would best fit the referring physicians. In addition, King’s
consultants researched RT equipment options to be certain the AMC equipment would
meet their needs.
